In Memory of Walter Eichhorn (1936–2025)

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Walter Eichhorn on May 25, 2025, at the age of 88. With his departure, the aviation community loses one of its most iconic and influential figures.

Born in 1936 in Jever, Germany, Walter Eichhorn discovered his passion for flying at an early age. After completing his flight training in Canada, he went on to enjoy a long and distinguished career as a Lufthansa captain. Beyond commercial aviation, he became internationally renowned for his work in historic aviation, performing at airshows across Europe in his beloved North American T-6.

Walter Eichhorn was among the very first pilots to be sponsored by Red Bull. In 2020, he entrusted his Red Bull T-6 to the Flying Bulls—a gesture of confidence and legacy. We are honored to continue flying this aircraft in his memory and to keep his spirit alive in the skies.

Walter Eichhorn will be remembered not only as a skilled aviator but as a pioneer, mentor, and ambassador for the living history of flight.
