at the scalaria air challenge

Action, lifestyle and aviation entertainment were once again the buzzwords at the scalaria air challenge, which took place in front of the beautiful backdrop of lake Wolfgangsee from July 3-6 and attracted around 15,000 visitors.

With various event highlights such as the new paragliding contest ‘Swoop Style Masters’, which started approximately 1,500 m above the ground and included two special courses with obstacles, the village of St. Wolfgang turned into a water & aviation Mecca on Saturday and attracted many international pilots.

The Flying Bulls also took to the skies and wowed the crowds with their exclusive “Flying Opera” show, which was accompanied by music and performed just before sunset. Helicopter pilot Siegfried “Blacky” Schwarz and his BO-105 also delivered a strong performance which left nothing to be desired. For the first time in history, a smoke installation was used for the display of the Flying Bull’s P-38 which made it easier for visitors to follow the plane in the sky.

In addition, the majestic DO-24 ATT, the star among all amphibians, and pilot Iren Dornier came all the way from England to perform at this year’s event.

Beautiful weather, numerous celebrities and excellent performances once again created a unique atmosphere and made the scalaria air challenge Salzburg’s summer highlight of the year.
